Ontario Science Centre Trip – Wed. Feb. 18, 2009

The opportunity of a lifetime – to view the IMAX film “Journey to Hajj – in the footsteps of Ibn-Battuta”, the Sultans of Science Exhibit, and the IMAX film “Roving Mars” is available to students and parents.  To see a movie trailer about Ibn Battuta highlight Ibn Battuta on the TRIPS segment and highlight “View the Trailer”. 

The following is some information about the Sultans of Science Exhibit:

 ‘Sultans of Science’

is a global touring exhibition celebrating the contribution of Muslim Scholars in Science and Technology during the Golden Age of the Islamic World (700-1700 BC) and the influence their inventions and contributions has towards modern society.

Focused on increasing knowledge and understanding of these invaluable contributions, ‘Sultans of Science’ has been created as a global travelling exhibition in order to enable its message to be far reaching through science centres and museums around the world.

Purely informative and enlightening in content the exhibition is not politically or religiously motivated. The content features interactive displays with information on inventions, innovations and discoveries covering a broad spectrum of science topics such as astronomy, mathematics, medicine, optics amongst others, which were ahead of its time.

PEEL WATER FESTIVAL TRIP – THURSDAY, MAY 22, 2008 GRADES 1-6

The Water Festival is a Science Program set up the Region of Peel to demonsgtrate ways of conserving, protecting the environment, and the results of pollution.  Science displays, activities, aquatic planting and other outdoor activities are highlighted during the activity.  It will take place at Heart Lake Conservation Area, and is a unique opportunity for the children to learn in a natural setting. 

Children will be leaving on a School bus, and will go rain or shine.  Children will require the following:

                                       – paper bag lunch & 2-3 beverages

                                        -School uniform, jacket or sweater

                                         -$10.00

ONTARIO ASSOCIATION OF ISLAMIC SCHOOLS – PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Ontario Association of Islamic Schools has been created to facilitate dialogue, development, and professional development opportunities for Islamic Schools. Al-Iman School is a member of this Organization and actively participates in its events.

There will be a Professional Development Day on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the ISNA High School in Mississauga. Al-Iman School’s teachers will be attending workshops offered.

Sr. Mariam will be presenting a workshop dealing with Student Assessment and Evaluation. Other Worshops will highlight Classroom Management, Being an Effective Teacher, and Making Islamic Schools Better. It should be a very worthwhile conference.

BOWLING TRIP – THURSDAY, MARCH 6, 2008

The Students of Al-Iman School will be leaving the School at 1:00 p.m. to go Bowling on Thursday, March 6, 2008. They will return to the School by 3:45 p.m.. This is part of their physical education program.

Snow Tubing – Monday, February 25, 2008

We love snow!!! The students will be Tubing on Monday, February 25, 2008. They will be leaving the School at 9:10 a.m. and returning to the School by 12:30 p.m. (InshaAllah). The cost for the trip is $15.00.
This is part of their Physical Education Programme.

BOWLING TRIP -THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2008

Students will be leaving the School at 1:15 p.m. for a Bowling Trip. They will return to the School by 3:45 p.m.. They will be bowling again on Thursday, March 6, 2008.
The cost for these trips is $16.00 altogether.

 This is part of the Physical Education Programme.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 18 -STATUTORY HOLIDAY

Al-Iman School will be closed on Monday, February 18, 2008 for the Statutory Holiday.

WEEKEND SCHOOL

Weekend Islamic Classes continue year round. New Students are accepted throughout the year.
Ages:              4 years to adult.
Hours:           9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
                       Saturdays and Sundays

Curriculum: Reading the Holy Qur’an with Tajweed, Islamic ethics and ibadat,

                      Stories of the Prophets(A), Seerah

                      Islamic history, Muslim perspective on Western holidays, Salaat.

Eid-ul-Adha Holiday -Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007

Eid Holidays and the Winter Break will begin on Thursday, December 20th, 2006 to Monday, January 7, 2008.

Classes resume on Monday, January 7, 2008.

Al-Iman Students have compassion for the less fortunate.  Students, Parents and Staff collected food materials during the Month of Ramadan and donated them to the Muslim Welfare Centre in Mississauga.
