Al-Iman Students enjoyed their excursion to the Kortright Centre where they were led in workshops on soil and signs of the seasons. Some students have recently completed designing and illustrating a colouring book/printing practise or writing practise workbook featuring Islamic Contributions to the World. The students at the School will be using these booklets for practise in printing and writing. As they work through these books, the students will increase in their knowledge about the achievements Muslims have made in many fields. These books make wonderful gifts for friends. Look for Al-Iman School’s Islamic Book Order form…..Coming soon ……
Please come and meet your child’s teachers, hear about the curriculum and see the textbooks being used for this year. This very important occasion is from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Ayana Clinic had generously arranged free Speech Therapy Screening at Al-Iman School for all students who wished to participate in this opportunity. The results have been received by the School and will be shared during this week with parents. The Students of Al-Iman School will celebrate Eid ul-Adha with a halal pizza party and afternoon games and activities on Tuesday, November 23, 2010. They may wear their Eid clothes to school that day. All clothing should conform to the Islamic dress code. Again, Sr. Nazreen Subhan has organized all sorts of interesting activities for the children, and we thank her for her contribution to the enjoyment of the celebration. Students are showing their committment to the less fortunate by collecting funds for the people in Haiti. It will be sent to Human Concern Internation for distribution through their relief team in Haiti. H.C.I. has already sent a Relief Team from Trinidad and has begun distribution of food materials in Haiti. Human Concern International will issue Income Tax Receipts for any donation of $25.00 and above. May Allah T’Aala bless the children, their parents and staff for their concern and care for others in distress. Assalamu-alaikum.Al-Iman School is a project of the Islamic Private Board of Education (Ontario), a Non-Profit Charitable Organization established in 1994. Students from Grades 3-7 will be going to Black Creek Pioneer Village on Wed. October 14. They will have an opportunity to step back in time and see how the early settlers in Canada lived. This will complement their Social Studies and History program. Footage about Black Creek Pioneer Village can be seen under TRIPS. Students will be leaving the School at 9:20 a.m. and returning to the School by 3:00 p.m. They will need a litterless lunch, School uniform and be dressed for the weather. The trip will proceed rain or shine. Students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 2 will be visiting Downey’s Farm to view the pumpkin patch, see the corn stalks, learn about the farm, and play in the barn. It should be a very educational and enjoyable trip. They will be leaving the school by bus by 9:15 a.m. and returning to the School in time for lunch. The students should be dressed according to the weather. School uniforms must be worn. The Ramadan Food Drive for the Muslim Welfare Centre in Mississauga was a resounding success. May Allah T’aala bless the children, their families and the teachers for providing a practical example to the children of how Muslims meet their social responsibilities during this Holy Month. There was a very close competition, with the winning class, the Grades 3-4 Class, just squeaking past the Grades 1-2 Class with 3 items, while the Grades 5-7 Class just hung back by about 10 items. The Kindergarten Class was in the thick of the striving for generosity by a few items behind the other classes. |
